Pantalaimon

Pan (one of her many nicknames) was brought into my work late one night right as we were closing. She was about 3 weeks old, was found in a tree stump, and the people who found her didn’t know how to take care of her. After telling the couple the supplies and care she would need they began to ask everyone and anyone if they could take her since they had a new baby of their own. One of my co-workers (a veterinarian) said that her daughter would love a new kitten, but that she couldn’t take her daughter’s sadness if the kitten didn’t live. I volunteered to take her for the first few days and nurse her to health. We bonded immediately and a few days later when my co-worker stated that she couldn’t take her I wouldn’t have been able to part with her anyways. For the next few weeks she stayed with me at work so she could be bottle fed throughout the day. Some of our customers even helped bottle feed her. She spent a lot of time at the front desk and all of our customers came to know her and watch her grow.

Now she has grown to be vivacious, spirited, mischievous, extremely loving (on her terms), partially leash trained and almost completely toilet trained. Whenever I am gone she always greets me at the door and gives me kisses when I return. I believe she truly feels am her mommy since I taught her everything she knows and I am proud to call her my kitten!

Malcolm

malcolm

Malcolm is a two year old neutered male.

Malcolm the tail-less wonder became a part of his mom’s life when he was dumped off in a carrier in the middle of the night behind the veterinary clinic where she works. An employee found him in the morning and it was discovered that he had terrible injuries to his tail and hind end. His tail had to be amputated and he eventually recovered, but it was soon discovered that he also had nerve injuries that made him unable to urinate on his own.

Having already fallen in love with this kitty, his soon-to-be mom paid for a visit to a neurologist, who helped get Malcolm on the medications he needed to be able to function more normally (though he still requires some extra assistance from his vet tech mom).

Malcolm came home with his new mom and is now part of their happy family of four-legged children. Well, happy unless you are the human who discovers the toilet tissue massacre in the bathroom in the middle of the night. Or the bag of cat litter that Malcolm thought *might* be a bag of food and thus tore open and strewed everywhere. Or the destroyed package of noodles that he drug out of the kitchen cabinet that he had figured out how to open. (Mom is dreading the day he figures out how to open the fridge!)

The list goes on and on, but Malcolm’s family has accepted that this is how he is and they just try to be more careful to keep tempting items hidden away. The rest of his wonderful, fun, loving personality more than makes up for his youthful abandon. Malcolm is a lover at heart and adores his family… but there is a still a vendetta to be settled with that roll of toilet tissue.

PS- If you ever visit Malcolm and his family, you will not find toilet tissue on the roll. It lives under the sink now. :)
